Rolls Royce to Invest $500M in PG
On November 20, 2007, Governor Tim Kaine held a press conference to announce that Rolls Royce will establish an assembly and test facility for it aerospace operations at Crosspointe Centre in Prince George County. The operation will create 500+ new jobs with $48,000 average annual salaries. In addition, the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM), a transformational, collaborative effort among Rolls Royce, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and Virginia Community College System, will also locate on the Crosspointe campus.

Why Virginia…and Prince George?
Virginia competed successfully against South Carolina and Georgia for the Rolls Royce project. Several location reasons identified by Virginia Economic Partnership as follows:
- Existing relationships among RR, UVA and VEDP
- Flexibility & creativity in solving companies needs (i.e. higher education & workforce)
- Proximity to headquarters, transportation & labor base
- Megasite available…i.e. 1000+ acres
- Publicly-controlled & industrially-zoned site
Fort Lee Growth Management Plan
On December 3, 2007, Crater Planning District Commission unveiled The Fort Lee Regional Growth Management Plan, produced by RKG Associates, Inc. Congressman Randy Forbes (4th District) said, “Now that the Fort Lee Regional Growth Management Plan has established a baseline of credible data, the Crater Region can move forward to better prepare for the pending growth at Fort Lee.”

Prince George County Board of Supervisors Starts Anew in 2008
The longest-serving (27 years) member of the Board, Henry Parker, was elected Chairman for 2008. “I’m aware of the responsibility that comes with this position,” said Parker. “My agenda is Prince George---period. The county and the citizens in it. I’m ready to go to work and we have a lot of work to do.” Jerry Skalsky was elected Vice Chairman. Other members of the Board include: Alan Carmichael, Reid Foster, and William Robertson.
